Give Me Strength

Over the course of the day yesterday, I was working up a rather nice post on the idea of John Kerry not accepting the nomination at the convention. Somewhere between the 9-1-1 call and when we got back from the emergency room, it vanished. It had never been saved and someone closed the window.

You can't imagine how perfect it was, after getting a late take out dinner to discover Strength Parts 1 and 2 from Bill Whittle. He could not have posted at a more opportune moment.

ER details in the extended entry After the party for daughter's ninth birthday, my niece (8) came back to the house with us. Daughter was splashing about in the kiddy pool her cousin was playing with Angel (English Springer Spaniel). Angel understands half of the concept of the game of fetch. She will eagerly chase whatvever you throw for her. Bringing it back is optional.

Niece throws very hard bone in general direction of pool.

The impact resulted in a 1 inch gash on daughter's forehead - deep enough to reveal bone. It being a head wound there was a large amount of blood, and significant screaming from daughter and mother.

In the end she was able to walk to the ambulance and despite being absolutely terrified in the beginning kind of got into it until just as we got to the hospital - when the terror took over again.

I have to say though that all in all she was very brave and composed. The only time she lost it was when they injected the local anesthetic. I can't blame her, that had to really hurt. After that she calmed down again and chatted virtually non-stop with the doctor and the nurse as they put 17 stitches in her head.

Today, other than dealing with bandages and being a little extra watchful of how rough her four-year-old brother plays, it is as though nothing happened.

I needed Bill Whittle's post. She clearly did not.

2 Glad to hear she's ok. Kids are designed to put adventure into parent's lives.
