How Big is a Trillion?

I'm a visual person by nature and profession a rather helpful synergy actually. I knew as the bail-out and government stimulus numbers were thrown around that they were really big. But I didn't really have a concrete to go with the abstraction.

Someone calculated that if you started spending a million dollars a day at the birth of Christ you still wouldn't have spent a billion dollars. That was a nice context but it didn't make it real for me. (Maybe that time reference just doesn't resonate with an atheist!).

But today I found what I needed to get a visual grasp on the magnitude of the spending. With a hat tip to The New Clarion I give you What does one TRILLION dollars look like?

It is truly frightening.

1 I stumbled across this image a week or two ago and since then I have ran across it on a few websites and had a few friends show it to me too. It really is amazing and hopefully it'll get those big government supporters to think twice before they jump on the socialism and nationalization bandwagons.
