Mission Impossible
Long long ago in galaxy far far away - before the presidential campaign got underway - conventional wisdom was the the race for the White House would be between Senators Clinton and McCain. From my perspective that amounted to six of one or a half dozen of the other.
The idea of either one of them becoming president was equally abhorrent. (Albeit for differing reasons.)
To me it represented a choice between the liberal socialist statist and the the semi-conservative statist. Either way, individual liberty was going to lose in equal measure.
But now it seems the Democrats are about to do the impossible. The are about to nominate a candidate who makes McCain look like a good choice.
To label Obama a liberal socialist would be inaccurately placing him too far to the right. Calling him a statist doesn't quite his position either. Totalitarian comes fairly close.
We've already been told by his wife what Obama will require of us as president:
And recently Barack outlined how other countries, no doubt through his interpretation, should determine our standard of living:
It's beginning to look like this race be six of one and a baker's dozen of the other.

Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.
And recently Barack outlined how other countries, no doubt through his interpretation, should determine our standard of living:
We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK.
It's beginning to look like this race be six of one and a baker's dozen of the other.
