Respect
It has been said often in the last few days that we should have some respect for the dead. This advice is always given as a caution to anyone who might deign to speak ill of the late Senator Edward Kennedy.
This brings to mind a question. How can you have respect for a man in death when you had no respect for him in life? Or more accurately how can you have respect for a man in death when you had nothing but contempt for him in life?
In the end, the death of Ted Kennedy can give us a small glimmer of hope. It will be difficult, even for Massachusetts, to put someone as loathsome in the Senate. So things can only get better.
