Sticks and Stones

I just took the trash out and it's still too damn cold to write bout the Holy Church of Global Warming. So Anne Coulter it is.

At CPAC last year Anne Coulter made some comments identifying a certain portion of the world population as Rag Heads. There was great controversy and outrage.

So what did CPAC do? They invited her back.

What did Coulter do? Exactly what every expected her to do. She said something deliberately designed to inflame. And it turns out she's really good at that. This years high explosive from the conservative bomb thrower was to use the word faggot in a joke about a Democratic candidate.

I'm not going to even bother to go out and find the quote or link to the video of the speech. Just look around. If you visit more than a dozen political blogs - from either side of the political aisle you'll find all the quotes and links you need. The bottom line is, the joke wasn't all that funny. But it didn't need to be.

Whether it was her intent or not, Coulter has exposed the namby pamby pandering to political correctness of liberals and conservatives alike. I find it hard to believe that so many people have skins as thin as they pretend to have. And the only thing more pathetic than the faux outrage of the left is the rights reflexive need to prove that they are even more outraged than the left.

The bad lady said an umpleasant word. We must be outraged. We must distance ourselves. We must denounce or call for denouncement. I get the sense that we are but one small step from burning and embassy.

1 What bothers me the most is that their message, their agenda never really go$t out. Instead for the next year, individuals searching for political identity will identify conservatism with a "raghead/faggot/shrill" Coulter rather than what they're trying to convey.

Hmmmm, what a sec... what are they trying to convey?

2 Since I don't consider either the left or the right as particular friends of liberty, anything that causes an individual to question the "Conservative Movement" as a political identity is probably a good thing.
