The First Hold The Mayo Podcast

I have completed the first ever Hold The Mayo Podcast. I thought about doing this for a while and was very hesitant. Podcasting to me is audio blogging. I started blogging in large part for the writing, so how does podcasting fit into that? Then there was the whole technical intimidation factor. Could I do it?

Oh look there's my copy of Garage Band. So much for the technical hurdle.

The last bit of trepidation came from the very real fear - but what if I do it and it really sucks. But having created the thing does not obligate me to post it anywhere so if it sucks it dies here on my system. Beyond that, I average about 80 hits a day so what have I got to lose?

So I created it. And I'm posting it here. I'm not to sure about the voice recording quality as I did it with the Powerbook's built in mic. If this becomes a habbit I may get some sort of Mr. Microphone to get better quality.

1 That was great!

It would sound a little better with a good microphone, but that was perfectly servicable. I might try that myself. But that would involve recording on a cassette tape, transfering that from analog to digital on my CD recorder, plopping the CD into the CD-ROM and converting it from an audio file to an mp3 and, finally, uploading bia FTP to the server and linking to it.

Oh yeah, first I have to find my microphones...

5 That was cool... I liked the music intros and extros... you have a nice baritone voice... quality of recording was fine from my end.

6 Thanks Willie and Spork.

Spork your process is not any worse than mine.

Pick a song from iTunes to use for intro etc.

Convert the song from MP3 to AIFF (Which means I can only use songs I ripped from my own CDs since you can't covert iTunes music store songs)

Import AIFF into Garage Band.

Record voice

Fiddle with timing fades etc

Convert to MP3

FTP to MuNu Server and link.

FYI: For this Podcast I used:
Could I've Been So Blind
The Black Crowes Shake Your Money Maker

7 Stephen: I think the program linked below will convert ANY format to ANY OTHER format... plus allow you to change the speed thingy... I had some stuff that sounded like Alvin & the Chipmunks and it let me slow it down... here it is:
