Tomorrow The World

I have written before that I view Global Warming as an attempt to control the planet rather than save it. Recent revelations about the energy consumption at the estate of the movements most visible and vocal spokesman make that view even more clear.

The arguments made in counter of the charges of hypocrisy leveled at former Vice President Al Gore amount to a clear declaration of "Do as I say not as I do."

While traveling around the world calling for the rest of us to make sacrifices to save the planet, Gore makes none. He justifies this by pointing out that he buys carbon offsets an invests in "Green Technology." This hardly represents a sacrifice for Gore as he makes these investments and buys his carbon offsets through a company he helped found and sits on the board of directors.

Leaving that little exta twist aside, how many of us can afford to reduce our carbon footprint by purchasing offsets? Most of us who Gore and the rest of the Global Warming crowd are urging to reduce are carbon footprint are having a hard enough time paying for the damned carbon to begin with.

If Al Gore was truly interested in saving the planet he would not be using 20 times the energy of an average American home. He would be leading by example. But saving the world is less important than ruling it.
